That's Uncle Paul in the center of the front row!
The wars are different, but the faces are much the same. The needs and longings of the soldiers and their families continue down through the years.

Our soldiers are men and women, sons and daughters, fathers and mothers, brothers and sisters, aunts and uncles, grandfathers and grandmothers, and dear friends.

They give above and beyond all that anyone should ever have to give.
Marine Staff Sgt John Jones by Timothy Greenfield SandersFreedom comes at a high cost. May we never take it for granted or dismiss the value of our veterans' efforts. God Bless each and every soldier and their families. May you live in protection and encouragement - as we live in the freedom and safety you have provided.

Thanking you today and everyday.

ReplyDeleteTracie, what a very reflective post.
ReplyDeleteWe call 11th November, Remembrance Day(or Poppy Day as it is commonly known over here) and have a minute's silence at 11:00 am. Everything comes to a complete standstill, while we reflect and pray for the Fallen and our Heroes!
We do have a lot to thank our soldiers for,as well as look around our respective Countries and Praise God for giving our Heroes, the wherewithal to fight for freedom.! All too often we take this for granted.
My beloved Father-in-Law flew in Lancasters in WW 11 and I'm sure he could very well identify with your Uncle Paul. These guys are SPECIAL. We need to emulate them and keep up their good example.
Thanks again Tracie.
Also still praying for little Fox and your Family.
Rosie.
Beautiful post, Tracie! Praise the Lord for our veterans! I love what you said here: “May you live in protection and encouragement- as we live in the freedom and safety you have provided.” Amen!
ReplyDeleteMy grandfather was in the Korean War and would have been deployed there but a family emergency called him home just before. By the time he did go off, they sent him instead to Panama to guard the Panama Canal.
Thank you for honoring our veterans with such dear words here. And, those pictures moved my heart to tears. Thank you for sharing :)
Blessings,
Amanda Stanley
Here, here! Or is hear, hear? :) Anyway, I join you in tipping hats and thanking our many veterans. I grew up with a grandfather who stormed the beaches of Normandy and a father who served in the Air Force. But now living in Colorado Springs, I'm surrounded by 4 military bases (Shriever and Peterson Air Force Bases, Fort Carson Army Post, and the Air Force Academy). To say military surround us here is an understatement. They're all around, and I'm eternally grateful for their service that has made our freedoms possible.
