Purple flowers

Over the past couple of weeks, I've done a lot of running around. Research trips. To White Cloud, Alma, Matfield Green, Cottonwood Falls, Strong City, and Council Grove--all in Kansas. Everywhere I went, I tended to notice something: purple flowers.

I suppose because purple is my favorite color, it isn't surprising that I would spot purple. But such an abundance and variety of purple flowers exist! I wanted to share a few with you...

Doesn't an old chain link gate make a great climbing post for clematis?

I call these straw flowers; my friend from Georgia called them corn flowers. It doesn't matter what they are--what matter is they are PURPLE.

These chubby little clusters made me smile.

No idea what these are--I am not a flower aficionado--but I like to call them Purple Rockets. :o)

These sweet little faces bloomed in the midst of weeds. Stand proud, little flowers!

And these miniature "snapdragons" actually come from one of the many clumps growing in the field right behind my house. I pulled a few of them and stuck them in a pot, hoping they'll go to seed so I can purposely grow them next to my fence next year.

I'm so glad God decided to make our world beautiful. You know, He didn't have to. He could have just given us what we needed to sustain life, but instead He gave us things on which to feast our senses. Such a Giver of gifts beyond deserving...

God bless you muchly as you journey with Him! ~Kim

  1. Kim, your post was beautiful.

There is something about the colour purple, that always make me feel serene and peaceful. I know that blue and green are the symbolic colours for serenity and peace, but when you think about it, "lavender" is good for reducing stress and anxiety, just two of the many other maladies that can plague our life, so I am sure serenity must fit in there somewhere! I know purple is the colour of royalty, wealth and luxury.

God got it right, not only with the beauty of the colour, but He also made the flowers in those colours that have great healing properties for the vitality of mankind.

Digitalis Purpurea, as the name indicates, has purple shading to white, with darker purple blotches, commonly known as the foxglove, and is used for cardiac arrhythmias.

Lavender, one of the most popular essential oils, due to its ability to assist our body in so many ways. It aids digestion, encourages appetite, lowers pain level. For those who suffer anxiety, depression and stress, lack of sleep, UTI's, Respiratory problems, to name just a few..they ALL came from those precious purple flowers :)

Oh yes, God got it right the first time, there is no doubt of that!

    Blessings,
    Rosie

  2. Thanks for sharing the photos of the lovely flowers, Kim. Yes, the Lord has given us such a beautiful "feast for the eyes" with so many kinds (and colors) of flowers! I have some gorgeous deep purple petunias blooming right now--the petals remind me of velvet! I think of you when I look at them*smile*. ~ Blessings, Patti Jo

  3. Rosie, I believe God had it planned perfectly, too! He never makes a mistake. And Patti Jo, thanks for thinking of me when you see purple! That really makes me smile. :o)
