If you're interested in receiving one of these books, just leave a comment on today's blog (Tuesday, July 19) throughout the week. I'll draw names and then announce the winners next Tuesday. If you have a particular title of a book you'd like (of the ones listed below), include that too. We'll play "first come first served," and then go from there.
Here are your choices...

I'm eagerly anticipating an annual writers retreat that I've been attending each summer since 2003, and I can hardly wait to be with this fabulous group of women again. We brainstorm each other's books––while laughing and eating––and we have such a wonderful time. But until then, I'm working hard on my next book––developing characters, getting to know them, finding out what makes them tick, and what they want more than anything else in the world. And what it is that they're most afraid of confronting in order to get whatever that "anything" is!
I love the brainstorming part of writing. When the possibilities and ideas are flowing and all the "what ifs" abound. It's the actual writing that's just flat hard and that oftentimes lacks any shred of fun. But there are those moments…
Moments when everything seems to come together, when the characters are speaking so clearly in the air around me that I can hardly type fast enough. When I can feel every emotion. When I type something on the screen and then read what I've just typed and know without a doubt that it's something God wanted me to know. A whisper from Him. And those moments are what keep me writing. These journeys He and I take together, and then that you and I take together too. They're precious to me. And so are you.
So...thanks for reading, dear friends––all of you who comment here routinely and those of you who silently lurk. You're appreciated! Now leave a quick comment to be entered in the drawing for one of the above books. Oh! And if it's a cutely snarky comment about Robin or Judy then your name will be entered twice! Heh, heh, heh…
Looking for my halo...it's here somewhere,
Tammy

And the winners are...

A Distant Melody goes to MEGHAN
McKenzie goes to JUDY
Coming Unglued goes to SUSAN HOLLOWAY
Pearl in the Sand goes to TAMMI
Thanks to everyone for commenting. You gals are terrific! Now...using my contact page on my website (http://www.tameraalexander.com/contact.html) send me your address and I'll get your book in the mail!

Hey Tam,hope you have more success cleaning out your book shelf than I did! I started doing mine four weeks ago, but had the misfortune to step back and instead of putting my foot on the floor, I put it on a pile of books that I had very carefully put aside to give to our local hospital. The obvious happened and I toppled backwards and landed on the floor. I tore both hamstrings, completely detaching them from the bone. Rather a painful outcome to my good intentions! :)
ReplyDeleteI love the way you ladies share your ideas by brainstorming..you always seem to have a great time together and loads of fun (and food..Ha!)
I don't think I would like to be in your shoes when Judy and Robin give you back as good as they get..can't wait to see what they put in print! (BIG GRIN!!)
I enjoy your your posts immensely... and yes, I would very much like to read Mckenzie, if I have a ghost of a chance.
Keep up the good work Tam.
Cheers,
Rosie.
Hi Tammy,
ReplyDeleteI enjoy reading Writes of Passage, and look forward to the next posts that will be written.
It is fun to get to know all of you, whom, I have had the pleasure of reading and enjoying your books.
We have a book sharing club at my church and everyone just can not wait for for the next book to be written by you ladies so that it can be read and shared among our little group.
I would like to put my name into the "hat" for either In Pearl in the Sand, Tessa Afshar or A Distant Melody by Sarah Sundin.
Have a great day!
~Tammi
Hey Tam! Just want to say Hi! No need to enter me in the drawing, I have already been so blessed! Just want to know exactly when your new book is coming out? Waiting...tick, tick tick...still waiting. :-) Just finished reading Eva Marie Everson's "Things Left Unspoken" And WOW! highly recommend it.
ReplyDeleteAnd to sweet Rosie, aaaw my friend hope your hamstrings heal quickly...you're in my thoughts and prayers, take it very easy.
Hope Jack has settle back in to you being at home now. It took Bruno about 24 hours to get himself together after my return, he was in such a "perclump" he could hardly stay still. He's fine now though.
Take care and have a great day!
Veronica
I'm always looking for new Christian fiction writers....and I would love to have "Nowhere, Carolina" because I'm a carolina girl myself!
ReplyDeleteI'm ALWAYS willing to have a new book! So sign me up for any of the above! :) Best wishes as you work on this book. I know it will be fabulous, but I'll still be praying for you! :)
ReplyDeletePraying for you, Rosie! Gracious, woman, what a time you've had lately. Asking God to put a hedge of safety around you as you heal.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Tammi, for sharing our books with your club. We so appreciate that. If ever you're interested in one of us joining you for a "virtual" book club, say the word! I think most of us do that routinely and would love crashing your group meeting. I spent a delightful time with some great women just the other night (waving to you Karen, Sue and all!). They'd read The Inheritance and we chatted about writing and life. Love connecting that way.
Veronica, on your recommendation, I just downloaded Eva Marie's book! Thanks, friend! I saw Eva Marie last week in ATL at ICRS. She looked great! Can't wait to read her book!
Christy, the Carolina gal, you're all signed up! And you're going to love this book. It's excellent!
ReplyDeleteMiranda, I covet those prayers. Truly. Keep them coming, pls.
Oh! and Veronica--A LASTING IMPRESSION will be in bookstores in latter October. It's with the copy editor right now, and I'm so grateful for Helen's work. She caught a couple of things last night and questioned me on them. SO glad she did! Writing a book is a team effort!
Good morning sweet Tammy! I'm about to dash out (well...as much as I can possibly "dash" LOL) to meet my long-time best friend for lunch, but wanted to visit my FAVORITE blog first. (No need to enter me in the drawing for a free book...my TBR stacks are toppling over *grin*). LOVE to read about the writing process from my VERY favorite authors, and cannot wait to read your next book. Have a safe, wonderful time on your writing retreat, and be sure to keep chocolate handy! Hugs, Patti Jo :)
ReplyDeleteTammy and Veronica, thank you both for your prayers!
ReplyDeleteThat hedge is looking good around me Tam and dear Veronica, I will try and take it easy, but like most of us, I want to run before I can walk! :)
Bless you both!
What a tremendous blessing it has been to be able to start each day off with "Writes of Passage." The Lord has spoken directly to my heart many times. The icing on the cake is to laugh with you and at you gals. Sorry, but it's true. You all are so cool!!
ReplyDeleteI enjoy reading Writes of Passage each day. You are very generous to offer to give away some of the books from your shelf. I would love to read "A Distant Melody."
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Pam K.
I love discovering new authors (to me). They must be Christian fiction writers....I would love to read the book, McKenzie by Penny Zeller..but any book will do. They all sound like good reads.
ReplyDeleteThanks and Blessings!
I so admire those of you who write. I am an English teacher and love literature, of course (if not, I have been in the wrong profession for 28 years), but I have no idea how I could possible write a book. It's one of my dreams, but just seems too "out there" for me to ever accomplish. Congratulations for being so good at what I only dream of doing.
ReplyDeleteAnd have a blast!!
Just found your blog through Deborah Raney. I enjoy y'all's books!
ReplyDeleteAs to the ones you're giving away, I haven't read any of them, so they all look interesting... but I guess, I would choose the Sisters, Ink one or "Pearl Sand".
Have a great day!
Ahem. If you ever find that missing halo, you better have a polishing rag in your hand cause I think it's probably lost some of its shine. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat Contest and a great way to chean out bookselves. I would loce Coming Unglued or A Distant Melody.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Rebecca
Tammy,
ReplyDeleteI was listening for the fluttering of those wings to go along with that halo you spoke of. LOL
'Loved hearing about your retreats, brainstorming, and your journey.
Thanks for the chance to win one of the books off your shelf.
Let's see....the comments. Mwahahahahaha. Just kidding. Judy's pretty cute, but I can't think of a single snarky thing to say about her. She's just too stinkin' AWESOME!
Thanks to everyone...except Judy, who apparently has halo envy. My own halo––I'll have you know––is back in place. Though granted, my polishing cloth IS a tad threadbare.
ReplyDeleteCyndi, I'm so glad you found us. But through Deb Raney? Really? You've been hanging around with that riffraff? You have such a servant heart.
Oops, where's that new polishing cloth...
How nice of you to share, Tammy!! I love to read all books by you "writes" authors and really enjoy each blog, which I read regularly. I would love to win A Distant Melody!
ReplyDeleteI get tickled at Robin's posts about her cat/dog...and admire her faith during her illness.

Hi Tammie,
ReplyDeleteYou have listed some really good choices.
I would like to win "Distant Melody." But all of them sound really good.
Thank you,
Anna Labno
Cleaning off book shelves can be TORTURE sometimes! But sometimes they have to go because other books needs a home. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI actually have Tamera Leigh's book on my wishlist and would love to be entered for that one.
Thanks Tammy!

Hello Tammy,I love reading your posts on Feedblitz, and I even keep most of them with your picuture in a special folder, I have been so blessed by the inspiration I get from your writing as you know with Remembered, I reread it at least every 4-5 months.. it is one of my favorites, but Within in My Heart has been super too...as all of your books are.. thank you for the offer of one of these books from your book shelf, I would love to have one, maybe Coming Unglued or Pearls in the Sand but anyone would be fine, as you know I love to read and and I am so thankful for being able to see so I can enjoy them.. ReplyDeleteAnyway, I would love to read Makenzie, if I ever get the chance. :-)
Ooh, I've been wanting to read Pearl in the Sand for several months now.
ReplyDeleteOh books are my weakness :) I haven't read any of these particular books so I'd be happy to have any of them arrive in the mail!
ReplyDeleteKeep up the good writing, I appreciate it.
I would Love to get one of these books. I'm not picky, just looking for new authors and I've never read any of these. :-)
ReplyDeleteHope you are doing well. The Burkitt Place Book Club ladies are anxious to read your next book.
It is a very rare day, when I am able to part with a book. I think it is some kind of dyfunction that I have! Even books that i didn't like that well when I read them, I still can't seem to part with! Would be honored to receive a book from your shelves! McKenzie would be my choice because I long to go to Montana and love reading books that are set there!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
Leisha

Tammy, always look for your blogs. Thanks for your generous offer to have a drawing for a free book for your readers. I would love to win any one of the books (but since I'm in the south I'd love the Carolina book).
ReplyDeleteThanks,
Jo
