Dealing with Life

Life got in the way this week. I had a bout of sickness and of crazy busyiness, so I was late to get anything on my blog. I apologize. All I can say is that I had really great intentions to have this blog on prior to this late hour. Anyway, I wanted to tell you what a great time I've been having leading a Bible study on The 5 Love Languages.
This is the 4th time I've led this study and the third time that it's been with all women. If you haven't read Gary Chapman's book The 5 Love Languages, I really encourage you to do so. And if you get a chance to do it as a Bible study - all the better. One of the things we've zeroed in on during the study is that this study is great for more than just husbands and wives. The 5 Love Languages are vital for all relationships - be they with children, parents, friends or even enemies. The focus is on how we give and receive love. Chapman points out the following ways: Words of Affirmation Quality Time Receiving Gifts Acts of Service Physical Touch It's amazing to read and learn about how you personally receive love. Me? I'm a quality time person. When people give me quality time - it really says "I love you." What's your love language? From this list - what makes you really feel special, cared for and loved? God Bless You! Tracie

  1. We attended a marriage retreat back in March and part of the study talked about the 5 love languages. Mine is Acts of Service (with Quality Time not far behind). I love it when Erik's helping me out around the house and I love just spending time with him. We don't have to do anything specific, as long as we're together. Erik's is reverse...his first one is Quality Time with Acts of Service following :-)

  2. Hope you're feeling better now, Tracie! ~ I guess mine would be quality time also, and now I'm eager to read this book (have heard of it many times but still haven't read it yet!). Blessings on your weekend, Patti Jo :)
p.s. Have thought of you and Judy today whenever I've seen gorgeous Live Oaks with the Spanish Moss draping from them---so lovely! :)
