Check out some of these ads from yesteryear...

| Don't you love it... "Removes tan" It was vogue back then to have pale skin. I've always known I was born too late. And they tasted each batch too! Ick! (Published July 20, 1907) |

So tell me, do you have a favorite 'current day' ad of all time? Mine would have to be one of the Hallmark commercials. Yes, the sappy greeting card commercials… I love those! What about you?
Tammy
I'm excited to share a quick peek at the video trailer for To Whisper Her Name, the first Belle Meade Plantation novel that releases this November.

I saw the trailer yesterday...absolutely amazing! Makes the waiting for November all that much more difficult :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure I can name a favorite commercial as we watch so little television. However, the Shout Color Catcher commercial is hilarious, due to the fact the girl on it looks like me...including certain facial expressions :-P The first time I was told about it, a woman at our church told us she couldn't convince her children that it lady wasn't me, lol!
Loved these old ads, Tammy (and I'm still chuckling at your pun on the water closet ad *wink*). ~ I think some of the Publix grocery store commercials are sweet. My ALL-time fave was about 8(?) years ago before Valentine's Day. A mom helped her little boy bake a Valentine cake, thinking he wanted to take it to a little girl at his school. At the end of the commercial the Mom realizes he baked it for HER! Still makes me tear up thinking about it (and the boy reminded me of my own son and something he might do). ~ Sooo excited about your upcoming novel, and am about to watch the trailer! ~ Blessings on your week, Patti Jo
ReplyDeleteOh my word, Catherine! It DOES LOOK JUST LIKE YOU!!! I can sooo see your expressions in hers. Love it! For those wanting to see, go here:

So precious. The look on the boy's face. Priceless!
My, you are becoming quite the punster, my friend? "Flush with embarrassment"?! LOL
ReplyDeleteI, too, love the Hallmark commercials. And the one (I think it's a coffee commercial) where the big brother comes home early on Christmas morning. But my favorite recent one has to be the little Darth Vader guy - love how his dad surreptitously unlocks the car and the little boy's reaction. So glad the little boy from that commercial came through his heart surgery okay.
I love looking at old ads!
Me too, Linda, on looking at old ads and also about Max Page, the adorable little boy from that commercial. So glad to know he's doing well!
ReplyDeletePatti Jo, LOVE that commercial! Tammy, thanks for linking it up for us :-)
ReplyDeleteOh, I do love the different Folgers commercials. Didn't they have one of a soldier who came home, surprising his family, maybe Christmas morning, and woke the whole family up with the smell of fresh coffee?
What about the Oscar Meyer Bologna commercial?
ReplyDeleteYes, Mary-Louise, I remember that one well.
ReplyDeleteBut does anyone remember this one?

I thought this little gal was so cute! And (oh Kim!!) she loves purple! ;)
Super cute. I've never seen that one, but it's very purple.
ReplyDeleteI'm notorious for crying over Hallmark commercials and the Maxwell House or Folgers or whatever brand it is where the son comes home at Christmas. Then I heard Beth Moore in the Esther study, talking about the trouble with hormones, repeat what another woman said (paraphrased here): "I cry over commercials and then I yell at the people I love." Ouch!
ReplyDeleteFabulous trailer, Tammy. Best I've seen for any book!!
ReplyDeleteAs for commericals--I think the Aflac commercials are quite ducky. Had to keep us with you punsters.
Yes, Robin, me too. And ouch on Beth's comment as well!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Judy! I'm grateful to Zondervan for all they put into that project. Was neat to watch everything come together. Glad you ducked in to see it. (Sorry... )
LOL These made me chuckle...my favorite commercials today are the Discover Card & Moren Faucet commercials--both on the Food Network. My sister & I are competitive to see which one of us can monologue each of them the longest. LOL
ReplyDeleteLooks Interesting!!! I Love Tamera's books!!!
ReplyDeleteLOL on the monologuing, Meghan. Love that.
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks so much, Abigail! Appreciate you reading!
