These Are a Few of My Favorite Things

Okay, I know you are humming along with me. Go on. Belt it out. It makes you feel good.
I love all the things Julie Andrews sang about, but now it's my turn. Here are a few of my favorite things.

NASB Study Bible (leather cover): As you will see later in this post, I am a fan of digital books. I am also a fan of my Logos Bible Software which contains a humongous number of Bibles and commentaries and dictionaries and maps, etc. But there is nothing like studying God's word with a physical Bible in your favorite translation. The NASB is mine.

MacBook Pro, iPad, and iPhone: Yes, it's true. I am a complete and total MacHead. If I'm not sleeping, I'm likely using one or more of these three electronics. They are how I work, how I communicate, how I relax, how I stay informed.

Kindle ereader: I love that I can have hundreds of books with me wherever I go. I love that I can increase the font size so that my eyes don't get tired. I love that I can read it in bright sunlight. I love that it holds the charge for a whole month or more. I love that I can highlight and make notes and they are available to me to copy and paste into another location. I love that I can get entire major collections (like the Complete Works of Shakespeare or Jane Austen) for free or almost free. I love that I can read the same book on my iPhone or iPad and when I pick up the Kindle again, it syncs to the last place I left off.

Dymo LabelWriter Twin Turbo: I would be lost without this guy. It prints my labels on the left and my postage stamps on the right. I do lots of mailings, and this saves me time and money.
FitBit Ultra: I just switched to this smaller and more discreet device to help me count steps, know calories burned, log food, and monitor sleep. I love it already. (For better than a year, I used a device that strapped to my arm, but I have hyper-sensitive skin and was always taking it off because it bugged me.) Because of the work that I do, I live a pretty sedentary life. I need something to remind me to move and to make sure I'm moving enough. The FitBit Ultra does that for me.

Miche Bag (demi size): Okay, confession. I own three sizes of the Miche bags. The prima is best for me when I'm traveling; big enough to put my iPad and Kindle in. The classic works if I only need to carry a few things when I go out. But the demi is my preferred day to day size. Carries everything I need without so much room I take the kitchen sink and ruin my back and shoulders. I love being able to change a shell in just a minute. New look without all the work.

Keurig Brewing System: I'm the only one in the house who drinks coffee. I love making just one cup at a time and not throwing out the leftovers. And if I fancy a different kind of coffee for my second cup, I can do that, too.

Nopalea Wellness Drink from TriVita: This juice from the Nopal cactus helps fight inflammation in the body. I've been using it for quite some time now and I'm a believer in its benefits. (I also use TriVita's sublinguel B12. Definitely increases my energy.)

Sketcher's Shape-ups Liv: After I broke my ankle so badly and after I finished the physical therapy my insurance would allow (which wasn't much), I still didn't have good flexibility in my ankle. Then I started taking the stairs (while wearing my Shape-ups) at the hospital where I went five times a week for six weeks for something unrelated to my ankle. Within two or three weeks, the flexibility in my ankle was remarkably improved, and the only difference was the shoes I wore up and down those stairs. The Liv model of the Shape-ups is super light weight. I love to wear them when walking on the treadmill or when I'm going to be on my feet for long periods of time.

So those are a few of my favorite things. But now that we've got that song going through our heads, let's join in and sing along.

  4. I was looking at the Miche bag. The problem: I have to see a purse in person before I decide to buy...though the demi does look to be about the right size. Erik received a FitBit last year from work and I loved it. Sadly, I don't have my own :-(

And yes, I am humming along as well. :-) Sound of Music is one of the several movies I can watch/listen to over and over as I sew :-)

  5. Glad I could get so many of you humming or singing along. I, too, love the Sound of Music. Can never see it too often.

I got my first Miche bag, the classic, about four years ago at the fair. I've got quite a few shells. I'm a fan! Glad I could introduce them to you gals.
