ONE B1G THING

"Out of clutter, find simplicity.
From discord, find harmony.
In the middle of difficulty, lies opportunity."
~Albert Einstein, theoretical physicist

This is a quote from a book I'm currently reading, ONE B1G THING: Discovering what you were born to do, which I'm thoroughly enjoying. The cover caught my attention first, then one of my publicists recommended it. And I'm so glad she did.

I love a book that challenges me to take inventory of my life, which is good to do from time to time. As the back cover says, "If you've ever felt pulled in different directions or wondered what to do with your varied talents and interests, Phil Cooke will teach you the secrets of living a  life-on-purpose that rises above the noise and leaves a lasting mark on the world." Highly recommended!

This morning I'm having fun with my editor, Karen, from Bethany House who's in town! We're meeting to chat and brainstorm. I'm currently writing book 2 in the Belmont series (title forthcoming), and I love the brainstorming process. Karen's so talented too. I'm grateful to have her on my team. She and I met for lunch yesterday with our husbands…

Karen and Jeff Schurrer at lunch Monday in Nashville at the Blackstone Brewery

Would you please keep Jeff in your prayers? August 2nd marks two years since he was diagnosed with cancer (colorectal, live and lung). He has a PET scan coming up soon, and we're praying that ALL the cancer is gone! Would you please join us in that request? (And don't they both look great!)

Me and Joe across the table from them

Me and Karen "squinting" outside (it was bright!)

What good books (fiction or non-fiction) have you read lately? I'd love to know. And if you happen to be looking for ideas on which historical series to read next, check this out. I asked a question on my Facebook page and am getting some fantastic responses!

Happy Tuesday!
Tammy

P.S. A little over two months until To Whisper Her Name is released. Hard to believe after all those months of writing, it's almost ready!

  6. SO excited about TWHN being released soon--YAY!! ~ I'm praying for Karen's husband. Those photos are great, and what a blessing the husbands were able to be included at a meal. ~ I recently read WHEN HOPE BLOSSOMS by Kim Vogel Sawyer, and about to begin TO LOVE AND CHERISH by Judy Miller and Tracie Peterson. I've decided I might need to get a t-shirt I've seen that says: So many books, So little time ~ ~ LOL! And of course some of my very faves I enjoy re-reading when I get the chance (your book REMEMBERED is one I'm itching to re-read*smile*). Hugs, Patti Jo
p.s. Please forgive me if I'm mistaken....but doesn't SOMEONE have a birthday tomorrow??? *wink*

  8. Hey ladies! Thank you so much for the prayers and everything. I have to admit, I'm exhausted! I think the toughest part right now is adjusting to not getting home until 5 pm :-( I'm SO used to my 3:00 arrival home! I was finally able to get to my room today (I had an all-day orientation yesterday), but due to in-service, I was only able to get about two hours in my room. So...it looks like my room has thrown up. Anyone want to make their way to Clarksville tomorrow to help me get organized?? :-P

There's so much I haven't even started looking at...such as my caseload! (Oops!) And I'm OCD enough that I can already figure out things I WANT to organize but those will have to wait until later in the school year. So much to do, so little time!! But let me clarify, Clarksville Montgomery County Schools seems like an amazing place to work! Everyone is so friendly and helpful. There were at least three ladies who took me under their wings today to try to help fill me in on things! :-) Feeling absolutely blessed!

  9. I recently finished The Wedding Dress by Rachel Hauck. It was very good, contemporary with historical flashbacks.

  10. Your book looks amazing Tam! I'll just hop into my private jet and whizz on over to collect it from the store..OH I WISH!!

In the meantime I am reading and re reading all the past novels that I have on my book shelf written by all you lovely authors. I'm never so happy when I have my nose in a book. It is my one way of relaxation which is pretty sparse for me at this moment, so I make the most of these precious and I am getting precious little interludes. Bless you ladies!

Tam ,I hope you are having a great celebration. Cheers dears!LOL

  11. Yay on your job, Catherine, and for feeling so blessed. Praying it all comes together, and thanking God for those ladies who made you feel so welcome!

Great on The Wedding Dress, Pam. Rachel's a wonderful writer, isn't she?!

And Rosie, thanks for your encouragement, dear lady. Praying for you and all that you're juggling right now. And bless you, too, for reading. And re-reading! Hugs from TN!

  12. Oh dear, see what I mean? Just cut out the "and I am getting precious" and my comment will make sense! More haste, less speed , they tell me! And.. I'm a day late in posting. I always do it early hours of the morning on the next day,(for us) which correlates to your morning time the day before(for you) if you catch my drift.:) LOL!

  14. Paula, we have several reads in common, friend. Know that I'm praying for you and your husband, and am asking God for that scan to please come back clean in September. He's the great physician! He can heal with a thought, and my prayer is that his will is for your husband to be completely cancer free! Much love...
