To Love and Cherish Give Away

Since Judy took you on a tour of Williamsburg, I thought I'd take you back to Georgia and the beautiful places we saw while researching for our Bridal Veil Island series.

Judy and I enjoyed touring Jekyll Island and all that it had to offer. It really gave us a good idea of how to style and set our fictional island.

When you read our book and come to parts about the boat house and river side of the island, this was our inspiration on Jekyll Island.

And when we write about the little "cottages" on the island where the rich and famous would escape the winter up north - this is what we were thinking.

Not exactly what I would consider a small cottage. Judy and I found them charming. It's exciting to see the historical society there refurbishing them. I hope they'll be around for a great many years to come.

Maybe one of my very favorite things was this little contraption. Judy can tell you more about it than I can. Not only that, but she tried hard to sneak this one into the car to take home.

Can't you see her toddling around in it?

Okay, so now for the give away - if you respond to this blog, you will be entered into the contest. I'm giving away 5 copies of To Love and Cherish and they will have bookplates signed by both Judy and me. Contest will end Saturday Aug. 4th at 11:59 p.m. and winners will be posted in my next week's blog on Friday August 10th.
God Bless You!

Tracie

  2. Wow, I definitely would not call those buildings "cottages." Somehow, I'll have to remember this blog when I read the books, so I can come back and look at the pictures :-)

  3. You're right, Tracie. Love those little "red bugs" as the folks on Jekyll called them. They were motorized miniature carts that were powered by either gasoline or electricity. Since vehicles weren't allowed on the island, I'm thinkin' those little red bugs were in demand! I'd love to have one of those little jewels! Fun trip!

  5. I am so excited about reading To Love and Cherish but don't enter me in the draw because I have a copy on its way to me already!

I want a red bug! that's my kind of speed. Love all these pictures. It helps me get a feel for the books. And goodness, but my little wee house would fit into the entryway of one of those 'cottages'!!!!

  6. LOVE Jekyll Island!! I've probably mentioned this before, but that's where my family (including oldest sister's family) go every year for a vacation (and daughter Rebecca went there for her honeymoon in 2010--stayed at the Grand Hotel! *sigh*). Anyway, my sister loves the area so much, she's in the process of having a house built on nearby St. Simon's Island, so I have a feeling I'll be visiting down there quite a bit in the future. ~ My copy of TO LOVE AND CHERISH arrived in the mail recently, and I was thrilled! So glad you and Judy are doing that series. Hugs, Patti Jo

  8. Since I have a copy of To Love and Cherish (GORGEOUS COVER,BTW) could you send me one of those darling red bug cars?
It brings back that sudden, intense longing for a ride that overwhelmed me when I was little and mom dragged me past a coin-operated rig outside the grocery store. I was always disappointed when she said no.
You don't want to disappoint me, do you?
    Cathy, who would share. :)

  9. I believe it was Eugenia Price who wrote several books set on Jekyl and St. Simons Islands. Fictional stories weaved with historical facts; a perfect combination.

  11. Cathy, I always wanted to ride the horse for a penny - and it was still too much. Years later when my kids were around - it was a quarter and that was too much for me. :) I say we all meet at Patti Jo's and go to Jekyll Island around Christmas.

I have the first book, To Have and To Hold, and certainly would like to be in the drawing for To Love and Cherish! Please add me too.
Loved this postcard view of the Island and the massive cottages! And... the Boy Scouts could use this design for their cars the boys build to race for the "boxcar derby." (But guess this would be a "flatbed.") What a neat idea. Looks like fun!

I left a comment on your website under the blog post on August 3rd, but it says there are 0 comments. Could you count this comment as an entry even though it's past the deadline? I really want this book, if you can't tell, lol.
